In '1966 I graduated from high school, I went to work right after graduation and I also went to college. When '1967 came around I had to have the new Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport 396. And when the first automatic stick shift Volkswagan Bug came to the Untied States in '1968 I had to have it too.
After college it was '1972 that's when I really found my true love, yeah yeah yeah I already had a beautiful high school sweetheart name Carol, but when I saw this '1957 Panhead Rigid Frame Chopper in pieces in wooden crates with the frame leaning against this guys house and the tires deflated and off the rims that were burried under some old tarps, I knew my life was going to change drastically. A once in a lifetime opportunity was speaking to me louder than anything I had ever experienced. I handed the guy $1,000 in cash for the Pink Slip without any guarantee or receipt and loaded up my truck with the parts. Driving home I remember saying "now what do I do". A few days later I found this chopper shop in Redondo Beach on Artesia Blvd. tucked back behind a gas station. I drove in and this hairy tall burley guy walked up with a beard that completely covered his face and mouth and just stared at me. I asked him how much would he charge me to assemble this bike and he said, $100 you can pick it up tomorrow and not once did I see his lips nor his face move, thats how hairy he was.
I had no idea what I was really getting into, but like I said it was something that really spoke to me loud and clear. The next day I went to pick up my chopper and I didn't even know which one it was because I never saw it put together. Dick Allen pointed to the most outrageous motorcycle in his shop. My first thought was " %#*$, look at all that chrome" as I sat on it. My hands extended all the way out and my ass felt like I was almost sitting on the asphalt, it was the radist feeling I ever felt and comparible or at least close to great sex! OH yeah, great sex . . . that's another story
